People often underestimate the power and importance of updated, professional headshots and business photos. Here are four reasons why you should consider updating your headshots.

1) Your look changes more than you think

Many of us change in ways we don’t even think about until we look back at old photos of ourselves. Our hairstyle, clothing, jewelry, shoes, lip color, hair color, all of those things change more often than we think. It’s important to show who you are in the most present time of your life – now.

2) People want to trust you

When someone looks at a photo of you, what do they see? A small business owner in North Carolina, a mother of four children, a friend, a wife, a young professional, a baseball coach...what do they see? Our roles in life may stay the same, while changing at the same time, but it’s important to show who we are NOW and what we represent. All those things you may not think show up in a photo of yourself, but they do.

3) How do you want people to know you

If someone comes across your website or LinkedIn profile, what do you want them to know about you? You have a college degree? You spent 4 years working at your last job? No, that’s all fine to know about, but what they want to know about you is who YOU are. They can look at a person's face with their eyes looking directly at the camera and feel a sense of who they are. Let’s showcase who you are and capture that pure, genuine representation of yourself.

4) Show up

People want to put a name with a face. So much of our communication nowadays lives in emails, texts, phone calls, Instagram comments, Facebook likes, but how do you show up? What I mean by that is, are you showing your face on your website? Are you adding a photo of yourself to your email signature? Are you updating your LinkedIn profile photo? It’s important to show up in all those places where people will see you. They want to see who the face behind all the magic you create is!

Let’s plan for your headshots NOW so you don’t get left behind using an old cropped photo of yourself from a wedding you were in 10 years ago. Let’s go have some fun!
