You’re almost finished with high school, can you even believe it?! What may feel like the longest time of your life is coming to an end and you’re about to embark on your next life journey. But, before you finish up those final exams, papers, and presentations, let’s not forget about something fun – senior photos! Let’s dive into what to expect from your senior portrait session.

What to expect from your high school senior portrait session. Brooke Grogan Photography.

Senior portraits are designed to capture and showcase who you are and what your individual style is. This is a time to incorporate anything that shows off your personality. Whether it's a funky dress you’ve had in your closet for a while and haven’t had the opportunity to wear or some of your favorite sports memorabilia, we can work it into your senior portrait session.

Location is important. Think about places you like to go to, or a location you’ve always wanted to take photos at, but never have. This could be a park with lots of tall grass for a more earthy vibe, or somewhere with street art and graffiti, you name it – we can plan to have photos taken wherever you want! Some seniors like to have their photos taken on campus at their high school and we can certainly do that too.

Ideally, senior photos will be taken in the early-spring leading up to your final months of high school. This will allow you enough time to order graduation announcements to send out to friends and family before you graduate in May or June! Some rising seniors prefer to have photos taken in the summer leading up to the start of their senior year, but it’s totally up to you!

If you have specific ideas for inspiration, we can talk through those ideas to make sure we achieve the photos you really want. During your senior portrait session, we will spend an hour together and you will get an online digital gallery to download and share. Your parents, grandparents, family, and friends, will all be just as excited as you are to see these photos!

Now, let’s go have some fun!
