Thinking outside-of-the-box for your family photo location

March 26, 2021 FAMILY PHOTOS

Nine times out of ten I have clients who have no idea where they want to have their photos taken, and that’s OK! They know they’ve seen other people share family photos that have been taken in some epic locations and they wonder where in the world they found such a place. Let’s dive into some location spots that will help you achieve those epic photos you want.

Let’s think about where you and your family feel the most relaxed. One place that comes to my mind is how relaxed I feel when I'm on vacation. So many families plan for a week at the beach in the spring, summer, or fall, and rent a beach cottage at the Crystal Coast or Outer Banks of North Carolina, or in the Appalachian Mountains at a cabin for an adventurous getaway. While you’re on vacation, let’s plan for family photos during your trip! Think about all the beautiful places you see when you’re on vacation and how those moments you share as a family are worth capturing. Some of my fondest memories are time spent together with my family while on vacation. And, if going on a family beach vacation to the North Carolina coast is an annual tradition for you, then why not have photos taken every year so you can look back on them and see how much everyone has grown and changed over the years.

Photos taken at Ginger Birdie Studio in Winston-Salem, NC

Another spot that offers a nice blank slate is the Ginger Birdie studio space in Downtown Winston-Salem, NC. I’ve had a lot of fun with families in this space. The natural light that comes beaming in the large windows at the Ginger Birdie studio is amazing! With little ones, they have open space to roam around and it’s nice to see how they feel so comfortable in the space. If you aren't local to Winston-Salem, NC or you have another studio space in mind, we can definitely book your session at another spot you have your eye on.

Lastly, your backyard or inside your home can be just the right spot for those genuine family photos as well. If you’re into a more laid-back, relaxed vibe, then planning to have your family photos taken within the comfort of your own home is a great choice. Capturing the lifestyle of who you are in your home showcases all the love that lives inside.

These are just a few ideas, but the options are endless!

No two families are the same, and we want your photos to speak to who you are and what’s important to you.
