It’s businesses like these that are a breath of fresh air amongst a sea of big corporations and big box stores. Here are a few of my favorite local, woman-owned businesses in the Greensboro and Triad area of North Carolina.
1) BE KIND KIDS
As a mother to a rapidly growing toddler, I’m a BIG fan of gently worn secondhand clothing. Not only does it benefit the environment when you buy clothing secondhand, but it saves a LOT of money when you aren’t paying full retail price for clothes your kids are going to grow out of in a matter of weeks! Be Kind Kids is located in the blossoming State Street area in Greensboro, NC and they have the best selection of gently used kids clothing. AND, they even sell gently used maternity clothes, need I say more? Who wants to spend loads of money on maternity clothes when you only wear them for roughly 9 months? Not me! Make sure you visit them and follow their Instagram for their newest arrivals!
2) GRACIE'S GARDEN FLOWER TRUCK
Not only is this the cutest truck you’ve ever seen, but they sell stunning bouquets of flowers out of it! AND, their mission is to donate 10% of net proceeds to local animal shelters through the purchase and love of flowers. You can find them at various pop-up events in the Greensboro, NC area. They often frequent local breweries, restaurants, and other fun places in the area! Visit their website to see where you can find them in the Triad.
3) WANDERLUST BOARDS
Are you a fan of wine and cheese? What about charcuterie? Well, Wanderlust Boards will be your new BFF! These custom curated charcuterie boards are crafted with local ingredients, and come ready for you to eat. They offer a variety of boards for any occasion: birthdays, holidays, parties, you name it! Located in Greensboro, NC, but also available in the surrounding areas, including Elon, NC. Follow them on Instagram for all things charcuterie!
4) SCENT WORKSHOP
If you’re looking to get out of the house and have some socially distanced fun, you’ll want to make sure you visit Scent Workshop located in Friendly Shopping Center in Greensboro, NC. They have a variety of unique candles and perfumes already made, BUT the fun part is, you can make your very own custom scented candle instead! They offer various workshop opportunities for a casual date night, girls night out, birthday celebration, you name it! And it gets better! Scent Workshop is donating a portion of every purchase to provide micro-loans to women entrepreneurs through Kiva. To date, the company has invested in 45 women-owned businesses around the world. Visit their website to see more about what they have to offer!
5) TINY PLANT MARKET
If you know me, you know this girl lovesssss some house plants...it’s quite an obsession. Tiny Plant Market in Greensboro, NC hosts pop-up events all over North Carolina throughout the year. Whether you’re a veteran plant parent or are hoping to adopt your first house plant, Tiny Plant Market will not disappoint. And don’t blame me if you become obsessed with plants (like me) after you visit Tiny Plant Market in Greensboro, NC! Follow them on Instagram for information on where you can find them at various events across the state of North Carolina.
Last but not least, Shenanigans is also located in the revived State Street area of Greensboro, NC. Situated close to Be Kind Kids, Vida Pour Tea, and Sweet Tea Studio, Shenanigans is the place to find unique gifts you and your friends will love! They have a little bit of everything: clothing, candles, jewelry, home decor, and more. If you’re looking for a gift, Shenanigans is the place to go! Follow them on Instagram to get a sneak peek of what they have in their store!
